New Developments
Over the last few years we have undertaken audits, reviews and assessed what resources might be needed to develop youth ministry in the Diocese. The result was that before the summer proposals were drawn up and shared with Bishop’s Council who agreed to fund the following resources out of the mission development fund for a set period of time.
A) The establishment of a youth Prayer Boiler Room (based in Gloucester)
Prayer is an essential part of Christian discipleship and as a Diocese we are supporting the development of a specific centre for youth prayer in Gloucester which we hope will be ultimately be able to resources churches in the diocese.
B) A youth development worker
This worker will seek to support the growth of youth disciples and young leaders using the many different opportunities that we have as a diocese available to us, including over sees links and pilgrimages. They will also seek to build on the work of the previous youth forum to continue to develop participation of young people in decision making.
C) A youth engagement worker
There are areas in the diocese where little work is being done by the church with young people, which we want to see addressed. The result is that we have funding for a youth worker to work in 2 secondary schools in the area (Severn Vale & The Cotswold School) to develop work in the school and the local communities.
Both positions B & C will be advertised in September.
Please pray for the interview processes that the right candidates to be appointed and pray that the prayer boiler room develops well.
